Robotics

Introduces young people to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building knowledge and life skills. Teams solve problems using engineering concepts, research techniques and robots.

FIRST LEGO® League

FIRST LEGO League is a robotics program for 9 to 14-year-olds, designed to get children excited about science and technology while teaching them valuable employment lessons and life skills. During the season, which runs from August – September (and perhaps later depending on the success of the team), teams will meet at least once a week to design and program a robot to complete a series of tasks. Teams will develop an innovative solution to solve a problem based on the theme. FIRST LEGO League is a great and interactive way to introduce and encourage STEM based experiences.

Jr. FIRST LEGO® League

Our youngest engineers are invited to participate in Jr. FIRST LEGO® League! This program is the perfect way to introduce your curious child to hands-on collaborative team work and STEM principles. This program features a real-world scientific concept to be explores through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Guided by friendly coaches, teams use LEGO® bricks to build a model that moves and develop a Show Me poster to illustrate their journey.

Become a Coach/Mentor for a Boonshoft Museum FLL Team

Volunteers are an essential element to the success of the FLL programs. Adult coaches are needed to build teamwork and communication skills and to foster an attitude of graciousness in competition. Mentors with technical expertise assist teams in troubleshooting problems and guiding the team toward creative solutions.
